POST-OP INSTRUCTIONS

Thank you for choosing our practice for your dental needs. Please follow these post-operative care instructions carefully to ensure a smooth and speedy recovery. If you have questions or need more clarification, feel free to contact our office.

Extraction Post-Op Instructions

Experiencing tooth extraction can be daunting. We strive to minimize trauma for both the patient and the mouth.

After your extraction, apply pressure with the provided gauze until the bleeding stops. For the first 24 hours, stick to cool, soft foods to reduce bleeding and swelling. Starting the second day, rinse with warm salt water twice daily and keep the area clean with gentle brushing. If pain increases or doesn't improve by the third day, or if symptoms of a dry socket appear, contact us immediately.

Fillings

Fillings are used to address decay or fractures by replacing the affected area with a tooth-colored restoration. You may feel temporary sensitivity to temperatures and pressure after the procedure. If this sensitivity persists, a bite adjustment might be necessary. Please contact us with any concerns or if discomfort continues.

Gum Treatments

Gum treatments range from simple cleaning to more involved procedures depending on the gums' condition. After your treatment, use a soft-bristled brush and warm salt water rinses to aid healing. Continue to brush even if bleeding occurs, as it points to areas that need attention. If you experience severe sensitivity, specialized toothpaste or prescribed fluoride treatments may be recommended.

Crowns

A crown is used when a tooth is significantly decayed or damaged. After placing a crown, you may notice sensitivity to temperature and pressure initially, but this should improve gradually. If symptoms persist or worsen, a bite adjustment may be necessary. In some cases, if the tooth does not heal, further treatments, such as a root canal, may be required.
