• Natural-looking: Composite material consists of resin and glass, which boasts a less visible appearance.
• Biocompatible: Resin-based composite fillings do not contain heavy metals.

However, we can also place amalgam fillings upon request. Amalgam fillings are composed of a metal mixture, so although they are considered a durable and economical filling option, they are more noticeable.

What to Expect from the Dental Filling Process

Here is what you can expect from a typical dental filling procedure:

• First, patients receive local anesthesia and optional sedation to maximize comfort.
• Next, the dentist prepares the tooth by removing rotted and decayed tissue.
• Before filling placement, the dentist may protectively line the teeth to guard the nerve.
• Lastly, the filling is placed and set. Additionally, the dentist may polish and adjust the filling until the bite feels natural.
